Not long after leaving his longtime manager, actor Jake Gyllenhaal has left his longtime agency. He grew up, so to speak, at CAA as one of Kim Hodgert’s first clients. I’m assured his departure is not because of anything she has done. “He needed to make a change after 15 years. He has enormous respect for CAA.” He will now be repped by WME’s Patrick Whitesell.

Management 360′s Evelyn O’Neill tells me it’s a “very amicable parting” and she hopes he comes back since she and Jake Gyllenhaal go back such a long time — 8 years. “Sometimes people like change in their life. I think he’s amazing, I’m very proud of the work he did together, he was nominated for an Oscar, I want him back, and the door is always open. It is what it is.” I understand Gyllenhaal is not leaving for another manager and he’s not leaving his talent agency CAA.

In homage, John Lyons, the former president of Focus Features who serves on the board of Alice Waters’s Chez Panisse Foundation (which oversees Edible Schoolyard) said he was toying with the idea of hiring a set designer to redo his apartment. That way, he joked, “all of the furniture can fly in from the ceiling.”

“No way, it does not do that,” said the actor Jake Gyllenhaal of Ms. Rose’s dinner table.

Mr. Gyllenhaal, who recently appeared in the film “Source Code,” is an ambassador for the Edible Schoolyard, a nationwide project that creates and sustains organic gardens at schools. Mr. Gyllenhaal said he got involved partly because, growing up in Los Angeles, family dinners around the table were especially important to him. That, and shopping at the Farmers Market.

“I love going to these schools and making kale pizza with the kids,” said Mr. Gyllenhaal. No doubt, the kids enjoy making pizza with the “Prince of Persia,” too. “Yes, they like making pizza with the Prince of Persia.”

International A-list celebrities are getting behind efforts to raise money for Greenpeace’s latest Rainbow Warrior, the environmental charity’s third such ship.

Movie stars Helena Bonham Carter, Jake Gyllenhaal and Helen Mirren are among the big names who have donated signed memorabilia to the charity auction, joining Kiwi’s Lucy Lawless and Rhys Darby.

The Rainbow Warrior is Greenpeace’s first purpose-built vessel which will be used to prevent environmental crimes across the globe and promote sustainable solutions.

“Wow, I try not to envy, but I have to say Jake’s got a damn good-looking head,” Damon, 40, told PEOPLE at Wednesday’s New York premiere of his new movie about a killer virus, Contagion. “He sure does have a beautiful round head.”

“Normally you say, ‘That’s a beautiful head of hair, but that’s a beautiful head he’s got,’ ” Damon says laughing. “Gyllenhaal definitely gets the blue ribbon for the best bald head over me.”
